Why do you think it looks fishy? Treperformance is a reputable shop. This is just a stock block with bigger pistons, nothing special

i just wasn't sure because I've just heard to many bad stories from ebay but it seems all good i just wanted some opinions. thanks i appreciate it..

what are you looking at for this shortblock?

a 306 is just a 302 bored .30 over and 11.3:1 compression is a good little bump in compression. if you are wanting a turbo/supercharger set up you may want different pistons to get a little lower of compression ratio. You can always call them and find out more info for your own set up.

description says its a shortblock ready for boost but with a 58cc head and 11.3:1 your asking for trouble with a blower lol

I'm just kinda looking around for now. i just got the motor out and I'm starting to think its practically the same price to buy a motor then to overhaul the bottom end. machine shops my way are ridiculous!!!! I'm open to some opinions. i am looking for something that will withstand blower/turbo application in the future.

Cheapest options are going to be to look through the classifieds, maybe go over to the corral. A remanufactured block from LRS, or see how much a machine shop will charge you to put some .030 over pistons in your current block.

You can buy just the blocks from them too if you into building it youself.....me on the only hand lol...I dont build motors, rather just buy the damn thing and get it over with

this is a great cheap short block if you are looking for that. it should be good too for a small blower/turbo set up for a while. better would be a short block built for boost around 9:1 compression but you would spend 1/2 the money on this shortblock and be with the turbo faster...

what are you trying to accomplish? there is no reason to spend any money on good parts for a stock blocked 8.2" deck motor. the stock rotating assembly is capable of outliving the block. if your current motor has poor ring seal have it honed and re-ringed, new bearings installed. i would only go with a larger bore if it was necessary as you are thinning a already thin cylinder bore. my stock 93 short block had over 150 passes on it with more then 500 rwhp as well as countless other people's motors. if it ain't broke don't fix it :)

well it all started my head gasket went up and thats when i got the great idea of just pulling the motor and starting over with something a little better. like i said earlier I'm pretty interested in a turbo setup. what is a good bottom end for that application? opinions?

do you know if you already had good compression? if so just keep the stock block. as modo said, the stock rotating assembly will outlive the block. I would maybe get a set of dished pistons and have a machine shop check if you need a bore or not. Also said earlier, its not that expensive to have a machine shop just rebore/hone block and put in new set of bearings. You would have a lot less money in that than just getting a new short block and you could pick some better quality parts. I would go with this for a boosted motor:

stock crank and rods
if you don't need a bore, just reuse stock hyper pistons, if you do, buy some speed pro hypereutectic dish pistons for it. Honestly you don't need the forged since you will be needing a tune with the turbo/supercharger. you can always fork out more money for the forged ones. This will give you about 8:1 compression ratio to get low for boost. but if you keep the stock pistons you can always get a thicker head gasket to lower the ratio too. if you are wanting to boost the sh*t out of it, i'd go with the dish, otherwise you'll be fine on a stock block with the flat tops.

then get some moly rings and good quality bearings and you will be set! all of that will be cheaper than the 1800 dollar motor above, and will be better for your application. to put a price on it, my stroker motor cost 900 completely assembled in machine shop costs. that included the rings and bearings too. (already had stroker kit, but it also cost over 100 for the stroker clearancing and 300 for assembly of long block).

hope all of this helps. ask around on your local forums for a good machine shop locally and talk to the guy there about what parts to order to make a better list!

yep no problem. did a lot of search when i was building my engine. was planning on a supercharger build then went to a stroker set up. really though, its all in the tune with hyper pistons. I would first start with talking it over with an engine builder in your town or the tuner that you are wanting to go with. they can set you up with the best info on what you are wanting to accomplish!
