Hey guys, just trying to clear up some of the misinformation I've been seeing all over the various forums.
Im currently building my 98gt for hopefully somewhere between 5-6 hund HP
Looking into major power adders for these modulars the same words keep coming up, but everyone seems to know something someone else doesnt blah blah blah...*insert internet stupidity here*

Id like to go the route of full PI swap and SC.

Half of people think the compression ratio is dangerously high, half of people think its fine. Will my connecting rods (stock bottom end) crater if I run 8-10 psi out of a SC with the swap?
Would it be worth my time to toss a set of H beam rods into my block to avoid the potential det?
Would a methanol kit lessen the risk of det, even to the point of not needing forged rods?
What kind of abuse will the stock crank take?
If I go with a set of forged rods should I stick with factory piston heads?
PI cams vs a decent set of comp cams?

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/VOR-4FL218-130S/ is the SC kit ive been looking at as it was recommended on another site. Is there a better one to go with?

Thanks for the patience guys, I would just like to finally put some on these "1/2 in favor of "A" questions" to rest.

first off, your not hitting 5-600 hp with a stock bottom end for one and 2 with only 8-10psi. i had a 96 convertible with a pi headswap and a vortech running 11psi and sometimes seeing 13.5 on a cold night, rest of the motor was stock and like i said headswapped.you can do it but your supercharger application matters too.id only run a centrifigul on a car with compression that high plus the compression helps the low end on a centrifigul car.my car made 400 hp. if your looking to make anymore then 4-425 safely i suggest you get forged rods and pistons.the crank isnt really going to be a limiting factor even a stock cast piece, the rods are the weak poiunt along with the pistons. also for the record,a forged piston and rod doesnt avoid detonation,im assuming thats what you mean by "det" but i a forged piece will handle more abuse although you dont want any detonation.

Ok, first of all you will be fine with the compression...just will make more power on less boost and you should run less timing to prevent detonation.

The stock Pistons and rods are crap, you wont make much more than 400-450 at the tire on the stock bottom end. Yes it would be worth your time to throw some forged pistons and h beam rods in it if you want it to last.
Methonol will help with detonation.
The stock crank is supposed to be good for 600 hp or so I believe, a lot of people upgrade to the forged cobra cranks
blower cams help A LOT, like 50-100 RWHP on a boosted car
That vortech kit would be fine.

Ive heard comp cams does a FI/PI swap custom cam grind. Do you guys know anything about that? Is there a cam you would recommend for this application?
Also what about a recommended piston head to go with my H beams?
If im hoping to make my goal of mid 500's HP, and going to the effort of a forged bottom end is there a better supercharger setup I could go with for a greater boost in power, but that will work with my compression?

Thanks for the replies and help here guys
