i did a lot of searching on this topic and i didnt find much for a solution.

i am running the 94-95 accessory brackets on my 408 with the tall FMS pollished valve covers. i noticed the alternator hitting the cover when i first installed it but didnt find it to be much of an issue so i left it.

the belt is now squeaking, i thought it was the belt tensioner but i noticed that the alternator is cocked a little bit due to hitting the valve cover. i bought new valve covers that are powder coated black and would really prefer to not have to grind down brand new covers.

will grinding down the alternator give me enough clearance? it looks like the small bolt on the bottom of the alternator is also touching and i dont think i could grind that. is there a smaller alternator i can run and still provide enough to charge the battery?

thanks guys, i will provide some pics soon

Might need shorter covers.... 94-95 brackets fit 351s as far as I know.

they fit and have been working but that alternator touching is becoming an issue

This thread shows exactly what has to be done to those valve covers to make them fit. The fact that it is a 351W block is irrelevant, it's the valve covers. However, the motor in those pictures (my 422 ci Windsor) is in fact a 351W block.

Paul.

thanks for the link. so there is no way to use those valve covers with these brackets without extensive modification.
