Hey guys,

I resently inherited a complete 460 out of a 1969 E750 dump truck and have been keeping my eye out for a rolling chassis. I was hoping for a 79-83 fox just to get over the emissions hump but most of them that I have found have either been high dollar rolling chassis's or complete garbage. After pondering this for a few days I have just about made up my mind on a 94/95 SN95 with a V6 to begin my ground work. These things can be had for dirt and the SN95 will always be my favorite body style. The motor will be carbed, but I uncertain as to wether or not I will stroke it. It will push in the area of 500-600 HP depending on the H/C/I combo and bore/stroke I go with.

1) Has anyone here done this conversion?

2) Will the big block fit directly in with just a meer engine mount swap similar to the fox conversion?

3) Will the valve covers leave enough clearance for the master cylinder after the heads have been fitted with roller rockers, I know the foxes have this problem and most go to manual brakes to ale this.

4) Are the rear ends in the V6's any smaller than the ones in the GT's?

5) Is the K member the same in the V6's as it is in the GT's?

I know I will have many more questions as the weeks go by due to the fact that I haven't even settled on the chassis as of yet but any input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

All you really need is a Tubular K w/BBF mounts (AJE) and a MSD box/dist. Then just use some shorty headers for a BBF and some other misc items and you got it in there. Got a buddy with a 427 side-oiler in a 98GT and another with a 658 BBF in his 95 (thats a whole nother story though)

No prob. There are a lot of guys on there that can help you. A good friend of mine is putting an EFI 466 in his foxbody right now. It will be really cool when it's done. :)

So does anyone have eny new thoughts. I just watched on Horsepower TV how they took an old 460 cleaneup it up and got over 350fwhp and high 400 in torque. Throw some thoughts out there.

the v6 rears are 7.5 and won't hold up to that kind of torque.

Years ago i saw an article about a sn95 that had a 460 bored and stroked to 525 and created over 1000HP. I do not remember the specifics.

I have a GT with the 8.8..... i am sure a weak point would be the tranny and rear end but i think it would be a fun project for a motor using all the stock parts just freshening up everything and getting those #'s. I would have to change the tranny and have the rear built but that won't be too bad. Be a fun DD car with a mildy aggresive cam.

I've been foaming at the mouth to do a 460 fox but I just don't have the freakin cash to get it done. Everytime I get a few extra dollars something comes up that I gotta spend it on. I got the perfect car as the chassis, 87 4cyl, runs and drives for 400 bucks. Body is straight and no body rust or major dents.

He has the engine just sitting there, might as well use it. Plus a BBF in a late model stang isnt somthing you see that often. Pretty cool
