Ok so i have the opportunity to pick up a 5.0 h.o. For 550 complete intake to pan including the harness. Ive read that the h.o's are harder to find complete. I drove the car and it ran great. (Floors and shock towers were rotted). But is it worth 550? Also its from a 88 gt

The 5.0 are in everything.

As for is that 5.0 setup worth it, I think so. Especially you're getting everything including the harness. Its even nicer that you were able to drive it and see how it runs too.

Dude, look at ebay for harnesses. ECU and engine harnesses are big dollaz. If it comes with it and they are in good shape, you ca probably make a few bux if you can get it under $500.

HUH!?!? I'm SORRY Guy's...... I know I am a Newbie when it comes to Mustangs & Fords.... BUTT are you all really saying a 5.0 "Complete", good running engine is NOT worth $550.00??
If this is correct I am TRULY SHOCKED!!!!! Guess I need to spend more time on Craigs List so I can pick up a Spare engine and start building it on the Side..... This way I have no Down time?

Depends on how 'complete' it is.

$300-500 is typical for a 5.0HO depending on what comes with it. If it's with harnesses and ECU, prolly closer to a grand out here anyway.

I think $550 sounds like a decent price to me. I'd stay away from the fox stuff if you are putting it into an SN. As previously stated harness, ECU are different. Don't forget about the pulley setup too. Good luck.

I was shocked to find out this week as well. My parts car has a clean title and the motor runs great so I asked here what I would be able to get for it and was told $3-400 depending. I asked $350 and was nearly laughed at, one person offering $80 and the other $150 with them both saying they can get a motor cheap for under $200 easy. Now what is funny there though is the accessory brackets, accessories and pullies on ebay get $3-400 so I am not sure if when they say motor if they mean he block with out accessories or the who darn thing?
