Ok so ill stay away from the fox stuff. And my bosses brother just offered me a complete motor minus intake for 100 bucks ad its out of a 95 gt so im gonna go with that mainly bc its cheap and local lol. But off topic what would be a good cam to run? I wanna have some lope but i also drive 50 miles a day to work so it cant kill fuel lol. Thanks in advance and thanks for the input

Well, if you need an intake, aaand your putting in a different cam, you might as well change the heads since they're the big choke point anyway.
Some exploder GT40/ GT40P heads are fairly cheap.

Mac and FRPP have P specific headers.
But RichV is running BBK shorties on P headers and the only issue is #7 plug wire which is remendied with a 90* plug boot.

gt40/cobra intakes are always popular, I run a ported cobra. Any of the aftermarket intakes will be a step up.

I'm actually gonna be looking for a fox short block from a 85, 87-92 because they actually came with forged pistons. These 94-95 and 86 came with hyperutectic (hope I spelled that right). Also it must be a h.o because they have different cams than normal trucks and passanger vehicles and firing orders. If your planning on going fast with a power adder get a fox short block and find the accessories out of a 94-95 out the wrecking yards.

Well the plan right now is 302 with decent (probably gt40p) heads and intake, Headers and a cam. Just something with more power than my pethetic 3.8 lol. Hopin for maybe 270 hp if that. Ill do more down the road once funds are better and i have another daily driver.

You know if you change the cam you change the firing order. . You still have a weak block and rods... hypers will work fine forged will just handle detonation better. .

No shit............. hypers are fine for naturally aspirated, but boost or the juice likes forged pistons. that's why they slap them in the 03 cobra, lightning or most cars sold with a power adder.

Yeah, but it's just a piece of mind to have forged for higher levels of boost like 8-10 lbs, or a 175hp shot of nitrous, but at the sametime it's about how well it's tuned or adjusted to sustain that level of power.
