RY and Paul not to start an argument but if yall like the LS series motors so much why do you not have one?

B/c when I built this 331, I didn't know any better. When I pop it...the car is NOT going to have a Ford motor in it anymore...don't worry.

Not to start an argument or anything but if you dont like the ford engines and like the LS engines, why dont u go buy a camaro than? Why do you have a mustang if you don't like the ford engines?

B/c I wanted one. Any more brain busters?

Here is the bottom line.

I am a CAR guy. NOT a Mustang Guy. Most of the members on this site already know that. If its fast, its fast....I don't give a damn what powers it. A better motor is a better motor....regardless of who's name is on it.

isn't a ls1 a 350 why in the world would you compare it to fords 281 or 302 try comparing it to a 351 Cleveland. this is the deal ford mustangs out sells Chevy's camaros. always have Chevy had to put the big motor in them to try and compete with ford mustangs and they still cant hang .its that old one liner you might beat them but you cant be them. the new modular motors are very good but i like the 5.0s but what do i know I'm just an 80s kid i remember when the 5.0 mustang was the bomb.just remember folks everybody that don't have one always wants to brag about beating a mustang.not a camaro but a mustang.i respect the new modular motors because ford built them.but just like them muscle cars of old. the small block 302 is still a treasure to me. long live the 5.0 respect everybody's ride 4.6 5.0 5.7 but if you got a 5 liter you know whats up!!!!!

well, you can say why compare the 4.6, and 5.0 to the 5.7, BUT on the other hand, remember, the Camaro/Trans Am were the direct challengers to the Mustang, and that is what they had, so i think if you consider it that way, they can be compared... i'm a pushrod guy though myself, not 5.7 pushrod, more like, 302, and 408 :coolsmiley:

ya im a pushrod guy to but ls1 versus a 4.6 or 5.0. you do know mustang makes a cobra. ls1 is a little bigger motor than the 281 or the 302.all im saying is compare the sizes that they have that compares closely to if i remember correctly it is the big bad chevy 305 and it aint got nothing on the 302 ford i mean they dropped a 350 down in the camaro and still it was a drivers race on the street.

I just helped my buddy drop $1200 on full exhuast for his '01 Camaro last friday Hooker Longtube cermicoat inside and out, 3" collectors into a 3" Hooker Y-pipe(since the damn camaro's don't have true duals), into a Magnaflow 3" to 2" to 3" exhuast straight out the back... It felt good spending somebody elses money for a change. LOL...
I respect the camaro's and trans ams, but i'm a diehard Mustang guy... though i would like to have a Black T/A to match my Black GT

Realistically, an LX notch with a 408 stroker, good (I mean GOOD) cylinder heads, a good cam choice, and all supporting mods, be it carbureted or fuel injected, will give any naturally aspirated LS1 car FITS, that's really a conservative statement, it'll beat the dog doo-doo out of most of them out there. Nowadays all it takes is a pretty cookie cutter combination to get over 500hp out of a 408 stroker and you're talking about a car that has a rather large weight advantage compared to an F-body to begin with.

But as far as a raw engine platform goes, LS1 is the winner overall. Respond better to bolt ons, equally well to supercharging, more displacement to begin with. Good strong block design. Really the LS1 is what a modernized windsor would have been had Ford gone that route instead of the modular route.
