I have a friend that has a 93 lightning that keeps cutting out on him. After the vehicle gets warm the motor starts reving up and down and then just shuts off and won't start until it's cool again.

For mods it has, .040 over bore, 393 stroker, forged rotating assembly msd6al, 95amp alt, cai, sct tuned chip, 2300 stall converter..

Any idea's?

I would think it's something sensor related. TPS, O2's, IAT. could be a vacuum leak too.
when the engine is started, the puter is in bypass mode (closed loop) after it's warm all of the engine sensors come into effect (open loop). At that time the puter starts controlling fuel and idle advance.

A buddy of mine had a very similar problem with his 94 Cobra.. It would run great when cool, but once it got warmed up it would die, and not restart
for a while. Turned out his Distributor was shorting out at warmer temps. He replaced it with an OEM one, and hasn't had the problem since.
I would think if it were something like the o2 sensors, if it died, it would fire back up, but just run like poop. I'm thinking something ignition
related (coil or Dist) is the source of the problem.

I know the fox 5.0's had problems with the tfi going out because it was mounted to the dizzy.
Is the lightning dizzy set up the same way?

No, the 93-95 Lightnings were setup like the 94/95 mustangs, with the TFI module seperate from the Dist.

to the OP, It might be worth a try to see if someone he knew had a Ford truck with a 351 in it, and swap Dist.. I'm not sure
if parts stores (NAPA, adv auto, Oreilly etc..) are able to test a whole dist. I'm pretty sure they can test TFI modules, but i could
be wrong.
