94-95 Tails vs 96-98 Tails: Whats the true Mustang Tail light

I own a 96 currently, but i've owned give or take 9 mustangs by now.. and i have to say..


94-95 Horizontal Taillights > 96-98 Vertical taillights

96-98 might look more like the originals but i think they are ugly and make the car look narrow.....if i ever buy a 96-98 i will put 94-95 tails in it but i dont want a 96-98 unless it was a cobra

I have never and I mean NEVER been beaten by a 5.0 SN-95 on the street or at the track. The poor old 94-95 made the anemic 96 seem like rocketships. My step dad bought a brand new 94 rio red in late 93, 5-speed, awesome looking car, slow as molasses in January. Yes it is personal preference. I did like the horizontals on the Fox bodys though.

LOL... I am with you on this one! I know my 94 is one of the slowest stock Mustangs, but someday it won't be! It will be fun to see the looks when I pull on them!... Anyway the horizontals really look better IMO!

I like the 96-98 taillights. If I owned a 94-95, taillights would be the 1st thing I changed.
But we all got different taste, thats why this forum is great!
If we all liked/did the same thing we would have to change this forum name to stangnet.

Hard to say i like both i have verticals but they are euros which im not to found of so i will be changing mine soon dont know what i will get though i like how the 94-95's make the back end wider lookin but i like the look of verticals too what a decison to make.

I think it's funny with the new 05+ stangs out there how everyone acts like those cars are the first modern or "retro" attempt at a late model mustang(I do own a 06 GT). The 94-98 mustangs are (to me) the best example of a modern take on a classic without making it almost look just like the old stangs. They have the running horse, door c-scoops, muscle car looks, etc. It's a totally different car but with all the prestigious traits of it's ancestors. Which brings me to my point. Horizontal vs. Vertical? The horizontal lights take the old "3-bar" lights of the classic and makes it into a modern interpretation. The horizontals just fit and flow with the car better. The 96+ lights just remind me of the 71-78 lights and look like an after thought. They simply look meaner and they flow with the rear of the car better. (to me!)

I couldn't agree more.....that's they way I felt when I first saw a 94. :drunk:

Ive seen a guy with a sequential setup on '94-95 tails.

I think he put the les from those on a '96+ housing. Why not just go with the '96+ ones you ask? Well thats because the 5.0 ones look tons better.

I've always liked the Horizontal Tails a lot better than the Vertical ones...but I drove a 95 ;D
