Thanks a bunch. It seems as if our first attempt removed 99% of the funk. We are going to give it a go one more time and focus on the trunk which is where I believe the remainder of the smell is too. I basically did the same as you after the initial cleanse, I rolled down the windows and parked it in the snowmobile museum where the humidity is set on 50% year round.

I would give some serious thought to replacing the carpet myself and while the seats are out just hosing them down and then going at them with soap/water/wet vac. This still leaves the headliner which is a complete PIA to get out but I would give it some thought. A couple of hours doing that or a how many more hours chasing it?

Picked up a new set of 17x9 front and 17x10.5 rear Cobra R replica wheels and tires and put them on tonight. Tomorrow the car goes in for some PDR to hopefully get rid of a few door dings.

Does anyone remember if these cars had a plastic battery cover from the factory?

I dont recall seeing any on the 94 -98 mustangs
I know the newer ones do
just a plastic tray and a battery hold down to keep in place

battery cover? No there was no cover for the battery. There is a plastic tray it sets in, but nothing that was on top.

Mine still has the distributor cover.

Today is PDR day. This car came from Chicago and all I can think of is that you must accumulate points for dinging the car next to you in Cook County?! This thing had 23 door dings in it! Emphasis on “had”. Nothing $500 can’t fix. She’s straight as an arrow now!

Tomorrow is Anderson Ford in Clinton Illinois annual car show. They are a SVT dealer and there is a chassis dyno. I thought about going over there to spectate and gather ideas. The last time I was there was to show my 95 Cobra R 15+ years ago.

How well does that actually work?? My Genesis has a few small dents on the passenger door thanks to my wife getting into a heated debate with a mailbox.

Thought about seeing if they can fix it with pdr as opposed to a body shop havin to fix and paint the area and blend it.

Amazing describes it mildly. I have seen entire bedsides caved in on trucks before and when they are done you cannot see a thing. I knew this thing had several dings but the guy actually called me to have me come by to see it before he started. They go all up and down it with a white light and mark the dents with a dry erase marker. He counted 23 dents, I was originally quoted $300 to do the whole car until he saw how many there were. He upped his estimate to $500. I took one look at the sides of the car and it looked like a 3 year old had been coloring on it...lol. I told him to go for it, $500 was still money well spent. I would much rather do that than the filler/repaint alternative.

So the family and I have enjoyed the car a couple of times recently at car shows or cruise-in’s. A couple of things needed addressed so I dug into them tonight. The turn signal switch had a couple of functions acting goofy and the gauge cluster lens was dirty and scratched so I decided to replace it.

While doing both of those repairs I attempted to slide the seat back in an effort to get more room to get my head under the dash. It would not move vertically or horizontally. I am aware of the issues with the weak motors and undersized gears on the seat tracks in these cars but I find it odd that both quit at the same time. I thought maybe a blown fuse could be the culprit but I will be darned if I can figure out what circuit the power seat gets it’s voltage from? It doesn’t say anything in the fuse section of the owners manual about the seat? Surely it shares a circuit with something else!?

Any help is appreciated

Ok.....so I realize I am talking to myself at this point but I think I figured out that the seat is on the same circuit as the cig lighter and power point. I will have to dig a little bit deeper in the morning.

My power seat doesn't move under its own strength anymore but if I sit on it and nudge it in the direction I press the button it'll go. You might have some luck pushing it while holding the button if the fuse is ok

Ok, fuse fixed it.....for now!

Next question, time for exhaust.....what flowmaster set up do I want to sound the best and make the most noise? Also H pipe or X pipe. More concerned about sound than I am performance. Plan is exhaust, 3:73 gear and then E303 cam.

So what do you guys think? BBK H-pipe and Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust?

I'm not experienced in the flowmaster department and my car came with a borla cat-back when I bought it. It had a great tone but once I put a BBK x pipe on it really made it loud.
