Hi all,
I didn't want my first post on here to be a cry for help but unfortunately I'm stuck.... I'm trying to install Shorty Hedman Hedders (they came free with the car) on my 1994 Cobra and can't get them in due to the ^&** steering linkage... Can anybody tell how to disconnect it? The Chilton's manual is no help and I'm stuck...
Thanks,
Joe

There should be a bolt on the shaft by the header above the rag joint.
Loosen it and the shaft should slide out.
I also had to do this when I installed my BBK shorties.

Welcome to the site and post up some pics when your can.

IIRC its a 13mm or 1/2" bolt at the rack end of the shaft. just below the rag joint.

Thanks CC and Adder... I finally figured it out... I'm not sure it is original though... My linkage has U joints at either end and a grease fitting in the middle. I had to remove the allen keyed studs on one end to get the shaft to compress and release.... Now I'm fighting the "Battle of the Dipstick Tube" to get it to fit with these Headers. Tightening the header bolts is slow go... I have to use an open end wrench and get a max of an 1/8 of a turn a time.... Still wondering how I'm gonna get the from bolt on cylinder 5 to tighten.... Frustrating Thanks and any advice is Greatly Appreciated!!!

Sounds like you have the Flaming River steering joint.
Mine is pretty close to my shorty headers so check it after you get it all fitted.

Thanks 95-stang... you hit the nail on the head... I looked up flaming river and there it is.... You are right about it being close.... Grease fitting may have to be removed... NOT a perfect solution... Thanks

were u putting the header in from the top? Also to give you a little more clearance for that front bolt you can loosen the drivers side accessory bracket and slide it away from the engine.
