95' gt anti-theft light

I have a 95' gt and a 96' cobra. they both have an anti-theft light on the dash but only the cobra sounds any alarm or anything the gt just has a regular key with no chip in it. when I lock the door on the cobra the light stays on steady for 30 seconds and then turns off thats how I know the alarm is armed. on the 95' it just stops flashing as soon as the door closes, and nothing happens when lock the doors no matter if you use the remote, the key, or the door switch. does anyone know if someone has done something to make this car do this because they didnt like the alarm or is it just a bogus light that ford put in that has no real functionality?

I'd like to know too, just posted this issue on the racing forum. does the car still run normally? I just had our race car light come on last night and due to other issues we did not get it running yet.

thought the theft light only came on if you were using a key that didn't have the right pats module/chip in it?
