ok i have a 95 gt. i came across a msd 6a ignition box for 20 bucks, brand new still in box. a friend of mine told me that since i have a dyno tuned chip already, the msd box will effect the tune. i was wondering if this is true? and i know the 6al is better but $20, brand new.. cant beat that.

It wouldn't hurt to try it... And I would highly doubt it would affect your tune.. All your tune is fuel and timing per rpm, the 6A box just gives you a hotter spark, it doesn't mess with either of those two. For $20 I would do it, it can't hurt.. I ran a 6a on my 89 gt and it seemed to run stronger at higher rpms, but that could have been my imagination.

yeah thats what i thought. everybodys told me not to even bother, but the way i look at it, a couple horses( un noticeable anyways) and maybe a mile or 2 on mpg, for $20...why not?

you wont get any kind of power increase from it. Ignigtion box's are only needed when the stock system cannot offer enough spark. Mine had a 6AL box on it b/c it was supercharged before I bought it but I still ran the box. It died on me the second year I had the car so I took the box off and ran it off from the coil again. The only thing you can do to effect your tune is changing injectors, Mass air meter, pretty much anything that is timing or air/fuel related. As far as if you want to get a box for cheap Id go for it but I would not pay more then $20 for a MSD box new or not. Once I have a specific brand/part fail on me I never go back to using it again.
