So my car has been running fine for a while then all of the sudden the idle surges, check engine light comes on and off randomly, sometimes it dies, and every now and then has a "hiccup" like it misfires. I cleaned the IAC, adjusted the TPS voltage, cleaned the MAF sensor, and reset the base idle which didnt help. So HELP! :crybaby2:

Have you checked for a vacume (sp?) leak ? those cause a lot of those problems.

Check coil, clean maf meter, and change plugs...my car had the same problem, I did all that and it felt like I gained a little chunk of power back and it pulls hard to 6000rpm now

I replaced the coil with msd, got frpp plug wires, new plugs, ignition control mudule, new coil pick up wire, and a replacement distributor which were all put in last august or later. Im gonna pull the codes today and hopefully have some luck with that. I doubt its a vacuum leak because the car had a similar problem but I'll look into it. Thanks for the help!

I pulled the codes and it showed 157 which is for the MAF sensor so im gonna have to change that. I tested it and theres plenty of power going in the sensor but not much comes out.

At idle the signal volts are between 0.2 to 1.5v and at 60 mph only 2.0v. Since you can't test at 60 mph you want to see a fluctuation in voltage as the engine speed increases.

Id still check for vaccum leaks because today (I know its not a Mustang) but my brothers s10 was doing the same thing and it sent a MAF code and it was just a vaccum line.

Its an intermittent so is it possible for a vacuum leak to be that way?
and as to toyman the volts were only around .065v
