97 gt 4R70 trans cannot shift out of Park, no start.

:lipsrsealed: Any ideas where to start, or, most likely fail component? This is my Wife's ride, so you understand the priority and desire to avoid any "Aw, nuts" events. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hey wwthud...Need more details..Little things like, if the shift button engaging? Did you try rocking the car alittle...? Is it on a incline? Is it stuck between P and R..Is the Linkage off...?

The shift Dutton is raising the tab up out of the detent, but I don't know if the unlock solenoid (?) is working. The brake lights are OK. The overdrive button on the shifter is inop but it has been for a while. Where is this solenoid located? Linkage is attached, car is on level ground. Thanks for the reply.

Have you checked all of the fuses? When the brake pedal is depressed, voltage is sent through the switch on the pedal to the fuse box, where it splits to two different fuses. One is for the brake lights, and the other is for the shift lock actuator.
