Did you try jump starting it? Are any of the accessories working with key on like the power windows, door locks, radio, dash lights etc??

Negative cable. The end of the cable is stranded copper, and gets cut/trimmed or cleaned. Then reconnect cable to terminal, cleaning inside of terminal. Clean battery post before reattaching.

tryed to jump start with my car, nothing. changed the CCRM and still nothing, the only thing i can think of is the transmission range sensor. when you hit the key you can hear one small click, let go of the key you can hear two small clicks.

So you did try to start it in neutral? Cause I know with my car if I dont put it into park with some force it wont hit the neutral safety switch and I will have to either slam it into park again or put it in neutral to start it.

Take the negative cable and positive cable off, clean the terminals and reconnect. Im willing to bet the teminals are either nasty looking or the cables dont have enough connection.

When you get in you car and put the keys in, and just turn it to the on positon, everything works right all the accessories and lights, when you try to start it though the car just goes black and nothing happens. and when you release the key so it goes back to the on position, do you get any sort of light that come, like the theft light flashing really fast, or the dome light really dim.... if so then its the positive and negative connections on the battery. they are either really dirty and have no connection AND/OR very corroded. this happened to me when my car wouldnt start.

Why is everyone over looking the most problem cause: The starter motor failed? Happened on my old explorer the exact same way. Went to get food, went back out, click and dead, and to get my dad to pull start it, thank god it was a stick!

lol Pull start ;p

I havent heard of the starter motor just failing instantly, unless it had been getting weak over time and it was just over looked.

Verbatim from Chilton manual:
"When you turn the key and the starter motor doesn't operate at all but the starter solenoid does operate (clicks), then the problem lies with either the battery, the starter solenoid contacts or the starter motor connections".
"If the starter solenoid doesn't click when the ignition switch is actuated, either the starter solenoid circuit is open or the solenoid itself is defective. Check the starter solenoid circuit or replace the solenoid".
-"To check the starter solenoid circuit, remove the push on connector from the solenoid wire. Check that connection is clean & tight. If connector looks clean, test with jumper wire. Place car in park. Remove the push on connector from the solenoid. Connect a jumper wire between the battery positive terminal and the exposed terminal on the solenoid. If the starter motor now operates, the starter solenoid is OK. The problem is in the ignition switch, Transmission Range sensor Clutch Pedal Position Switch or in the starting circuit wiring-(look for open or loose connections). If the starter motor still doesn't operate, replace the starter solenoid.
-to test voltage to the stater relay, the relay is located below the steering column behind knee bolster. Use an Ohm meter, there should be continuity between the two switch terminals. The ignition swith is rectangular, has a clump of wires clipped to the left of it, is two toned thin black on left and fatter grey on right. Has two mounting screws top right hand and bottom rigt hand corners-
Good luck, hope that helps some- Robb

Mine did on my exploder, was working fine than poof, dead :/. And yes pull start, My dad hooked his truck up to my exploder, pulled it to like 20-30kph and I slammed it into 2nd gear, started right up! I had to do that when the battery died in my old stang too but I had 3 guys pushing it haha.

FYI:
I have the Chilton in front of me. Let me know if you need me to reference anything-
Starter Motor Installation:
1. Detatch cable from negative terminal of battery. 2. Raise vehicle & support it on jackstands. 3. Disconnect the large cable from the terminal on the starter motor & the solenoid terminal connections. 4. Install in reverse-
Mentions NO bracket?????
