97 Vert Domelight

On our 98 vert before it was wrecked when you opened the doors or twisted the headlight switch the map lights would come on as a dome light substitute. On the replacement 97 GT the map lights function at the switch but there is nothing coming on when you open the doors or twist the headlight switch. Is this normal for 97 vert's or is there something wrong?

At least you have any dome lights... I've had my car for 2 years now and haven't had any dome lights at all. No one can pinpoint my problem and every forum has been useless thus far...

That's the point, there is no dome light function. The map lights function individually so I don't know if this is properly functioning or not?

I have a 97 vert and when you hit the key fob to unlock the map lights come on
or open the doors

Ahhh... Thanks. Now I just have to figure out why the map lights function but fail to trigger with the doors.

Could be the door jam switch.

I got a Wire guide to say what color wire goes to what... I'll upload it tomorrow. Basically we'll be able to use a multimeter to check power to the right wires. I am going to start at the door jam wires first just for fun. But those switches are very well made so I doubt it's that. I'm going to track it all down tomorrow or I'll push my car off a cliff! I hate not having internal lights!


Does anyone know if 96 mustangs had courtesy lights under the dash near the kick panels?

I know what you mean, it's surprising how you miss a little light bulb coming on when you open the door.
