To get lower insurance I put the car in my ex girlfriends name, so when they totalled it they asked her what to do with it, and she said tow it away. I haven't seen it since friday, unlikely I ever will again.

Legally, it isn't my car, so no. But I did aparently suffer some pretty significant back damage, so that lawsuit should be decent enough to put me in another stang in a year or so.

I had an '86 Monte Carlo, that a tree fell on and they tried to total it for a $300 diff. between repair cost and what they said the value was. After arguing with them for quite sometime, they payed the value, and I payed the diff. Same thing happened to my son. He has an '88GT, which he put $8000 into. Some a**hole ran a light and clipped him behind the driver's side rear wheel. They wanted to total it. So I got on the phone and argued with the ins. adj., and they finally sent him $3000, and didn't total it

Oh man :'(. That is horrible, is there anyway you can get your mods back if you find out what they are doing with it? Seems like you have a lot of money into that car. Don't they offer a buy it back price after they total it?

She's filing bankrupcy, she took the money and ran... Lesson: Keep your car's in your own name, even if the insurance is high.

the same thing happened to me :( ... mine was head on tho and the bags popped, and bent frame, had to replace a/c condesner bumper cover both fenders, hood, cowl, shock dampeners, and bar across dampeners, headlights and foglights, radiator support, horn clips and a couple other things damage came up to 7925.83 (this was like 2 months ago) my insurance company (USAA)only let me take it to one place, after the first estimate from maze i said i want to take it to a different place and they said no that maze was a reputable company and they wouldn't pay for it anywhere else.

the buy back amount was $822 but the insurance company totalled it and handed me a check for $8003 which was more than the damage so I had maze collision repair fix it in st.charles missouri (i had them fix it cause the interior is immaculate with no tears and almost no wear at all, the car was driven by an old woman for 40k miles and always garaged) THEY DID A HORRIBLE JOB! IF ANYONE WOULD EVER THINK ABOUT GOING THERE DO NOT DO YOUR REPAIRS THERE! when i got it back the fender gaps were like | | that big at thetop and | | that big at the bottom, the hood hit the bumper when it closed and were pushing on eachother so that the hood barely closed. They used used parts and didn't repair them before the put them on my car so all the roadchips and stuff you could see through the paint. the fog lights had water inside them, and the headlights were literally yellow, they didn't replace the cowl and there was overspray all over the car not just overspray from my car but purple over spray and white over spray. there were drips on the bottom of every piece they painted, bubbles on the hood and fenders, didn't put screws in the left fender and in the bottom of the front bumper cover, the radiator/core support was rusted out and the pony on the front had horrible corrosion on the front of it and a crack between the tail and body. AND IT TOOK THE 6 WEEKS TO DO THAT!

I took it back to them and said i wanted my money back because it looked like a 5yr old did it, and they said let us fix it, so i gave it to them again to fix and they brought it back to me but they still didn't fix the road chips in the bumper or the bubbles in the hood or the cowl or the foglights... so i took it back again...this time the road chips in bumper and foglights weren'ts fixed.... so i took it back again... this time the road chips weren't fixed, but they replaced 1 foglight...so i took it back again... they still haven't fixed the road chips in the bumper but i'm tired of giving them my car and it's only two chips that aren't very noticeable. In total from them getting the car to the time of when it was done right it was 9 weeks.

now that we have that out of the way, here's pics

Im surprised about USAA. THey told me that I had to take it to a specific shop for them to pay the shop directly, however I could go to their specific consultant to have an estimate, then take that amount to whomever I choose.

the insurance person would give an estimate for you? maze and usaa are partners so they didn't send out an insurance person to estimate it, they had maze do it since they were a "reputable company"

They told me they would only take an estimate from maze and that i could take it somewhere else but they wouldn't pay for it to be fixed there
