Hi all. Just purchased my first SN95. A 98 GT Vert. All in all a good car, low miles and overall in very good shape. Just a few minor things to fix. Here it is just as I purchased. Already has a CAI, catback and possibly cams...has a mild lope at idle that sounds more like cams to me than just a rough idle...and no other indications that would go with a rough idle like hesitation or anything either. Anyway, here is a photo of the new ride at the car lot. Since that was taken I've already put new tires on it...245/45 on the front and 275/40 on the rear. I normally put aftermarket wheels on everything I drive, but I think I'll keep the stock GT rims...for now anyway. I will also be lowering the car and adding spacers to the rear wheels so they better fill out the wheel wells.

Thats why I always like the 98 wheels vs the 97's...because you dont have that gray insert...with the one's you got..Hell..I wouldn't change'em ..they are perfect..Maybe get them dipped in Chrome...Maybe.. Thats it...

I've thought about chroming them. Not sure what the cost is to do so.

Very very nice ride, I got me a 98 myself, how many miles you got on it? As far as chroming goes your probably better off getting new wheels for the cost

Thanks again for the welcomes. 80K miles...pretty low for a 14 year old car IMO. I did some looking around at pricing for chrome plating and I think you're right the cost is not worth it. I will probably go with something aftermarket at some point, but for now I like the stock GT rims...and they are in good shape...and I have some other projects to work on first anyway, LOL!

Really? Mine had 80k when I bought it last April. Now has 94K on it now, I'm dreading the 100k mark lol.
So far I've done new a new cool pack, new intake manifold since the OEM one cracked on me due to the faulty plastic coolant crossover on our SN's, new clutch assembly which im about to have to dig into again Saturday, and a heater core.
Other than that it's damn near perfect.
Even though you have low mileage just be prepared for anything lol.
I really don't plan to do much to mine other than, front chin spoiler, wider tires in the rear from the 275's im on right now, lower it, pi swap and a 01' cobra R hood. Other than that I love it the way it is. I don't need it to be competitive on the street, just enough to get out of it's own way.

How much did you pay for yours, hopefully you didn't over pay like I did and spend $9K on it haha

I hear ya. I'm not going to do much on this one either. I would love to run 315's or so on the back but with the stock 8" wheel that's a no go. The 275's are wide enough for now. The existing cat back mufflers are about shot so I'll be looking to replace those soon. I have something in the steering that's not right so I have to diagnose and replace that...also going to lower the car and replace shocks. Otherwise a lot of things are done already...windows tinted things like that. I don't think I'll even replace the stock audio system. At 25 I would have ripped it out and added something after market, but at almost 45 I think I'll keep the stock setup, LOL!

Not sure what the value of the car is but I picked it up for $6K, which I think is fair. I looked at an '02 almost identical with 67K miles and bullitt wheels for $10K...I think I'm happy with what I got :)

I looked at a '98 V6 that same color with a black top and interior and chrome staggered bullitts. Gorgeous car and I would have bought it in a heartbeat but I had my heart set on a 5 speed and it was an auto.
