i'll be shaving my antenna when i do a rapaint this summer. I did the same to my mach 1; welded it up, body worked, and used a hidden antenna behind the dash.

i dont think anyone makes an actual "kit" though

Ford at one point produced block-off plates; I'm pretty sure it was an '00 R part.
However, I don't think you're going to be able to get them anymore.

I pulled the ball off the top and cut the antena down to 14" and put the ball back on top and painted it.

You sir are the man!

I contemplated just cutting the antenna down a little, but it just looks weird IMO. I agree with smokeybear, Ford should have made it power and stuck it in the rear.

I say thank god ford did not put a power antenna on our cars because that just another thing to fail and fix.

Also I cut my stock antenna down to 12-13 inches long and I still get great redio recieption. If it matters, I still have the stock Mach 460 readio.

this is one of those things that no one else notices. . . until you point it out to them then they still don't care.

imo it's a waste of time to waste your money on a kit for it... just cut it or something if that's what make you horny.

The same could be said for alot of things in the car world. Besides its only $13, its not like its my life savings or anything. :)

I have an ugly, ugly short antennae and it doesn't pick up shit. Thank God for the iPod jack on my new stereo. :dancing6:
I may have to give this kit a try until I have the money to get some body work done.
