I work for Firestone and it's:
$79.99 for a one time
$149.99 for lifetime alignment.. (As long as you own your vehicle, we will align it for free, assuming no suspension parts are worn/ have excess play).
-a very good deal IMO, although some of the local auto-x guys wear us out on it, coming in every 2 weeks with different align settings they want to "try".

Is that allowed though? Like if i had that lifetime thing could i get my car aligned, then go home and take the isos out and go back for a realignment, and then install a bumpsteer kit a few months later and get it realigned? Or are they supposed to limit it to like one a year or something? I always wondered how that worked, i hate wanting to change my suspension and having to worry about getting another alignment all the dang time.

I'm not sure if it's just the Firestone I went to, or what, but I installed C/C plates and brought my car in for alignment, and they did not move the plates at all. Is that normal? One plate is completely polar opposite of the other, and neither were moved at all from when I dropped it off. I don't know how close they got it to in spec, because someone else picked the car up for me, but I just thought that was weird.

I also didn't know I could ask them to set it to specific settings. Is that something special, or can I do that at any Firestone? :)

Thanks...

It's a fine line, but they shouldn't have a problem with it.. We don't have a problem re-doing it for people, you pay the money, why
shouldn't you be able to use the alignment when you want? The only guy with a Lifetime alignment I've seen us get frustrated with
was an amateur Auto-x racer with a little Integra. He literally would come in one week and say "set camber to ___, caster to ___ and toe to ___",
then one week later, he would want something completely different because that alignment setup "didn't work for his racing" .. He did that 6 straight weeks in a row, before we told him to calm down with all the settings, so he slowed down to once every 2 month visits. But if you only had one set of specific align specs, and changed suspension parts, it wouldn't take that much effort to adjust things to spec.

-to Cntchds: did you mention to them that camber/caster was adjustable with the plates? If they just pulled it onto the rack, and look
up a Mustang suspension adjustments in the computer, it would say "Camber not factory adj, minimal caster adj with factory strut plates". The "special settings", like i said in the above paragraph, as long as you don't go overboard with it, they shouldn't have a problem, although i will say some places will only align vehicles to factory specs.. You just have to be nice to them and mention it.. If they tell you no, then feel free to drive to Kansas, and I'll hook it up. haha.

Haha, I appreciate it. ;)

I did not tell them that I put in the plates, so you're probably right that they probably just assumed it wasn't adjustable.

Thanks.
