Well I have decided that a mini spool is going to go in the rear end. I havent decided on 31 or 28 yet. It will depend on my paycheck, but of course i want 31. With that being said, is there any difference between 31 spline C clip elimated axles and non elimated axles? Also what is the best brand to go with on axles?

Do you have a C-clip eliminator kit? I believe only the weld on ones are acceptable for the track, but that may have changed.

Anyway, there is a difference, in strength, c-clip axles neck down and have a ridge where they go into the bearing, non-clip axles for 9" bearing eand, actually neck up in that area, making them much stronger.

I *think* Competition Engineering used to have a bolt-on C-clip eliminator kit, someone did, because it was available for GM's too, but it wasn't legal then, which is why my GN has 9" bearing ends on it, lol.

I'm running Moser 35 spline axles on my 95 with c-clip elims. You can get them from moser with the elims already pressed on and ready to go. If you use elims though there are a few things you will need to do. You will need to cut the seal flange off the axle, this can be done with a sawzall, hacksaw ect ect.... Cut it off flush with the brake mounting flange on the end of the axle and smooth out with a grinder. You also need to have the brake mounting bracket machined to accept the elims. Finally when you re install the calipers you may need to grind the mounting pads a little so everything will line up nice. Don't forget to use plenty of sealer between the axle houseing flange and the caliper mounting bracket and between the caliper mounting bracket and the elim. The axle seal is built into the elim. It's really easy to do, sounds harder than it is.

I'd suggest getting the axles/elims/and spool as a package deal from them. IMO I wouldnt use a mini spool. I'd also get a moser support cover too. I'd go ahead and get the 31 splines too. It's a pretty big investment, but it will be dependable and will take alot of abuse.

I got all my stuff from http://www.holcombmotorsports.com/ They are local here in NC. Give them a call and tell them what ya need or look it up in their online catalog.

If your intrested, I'll see if I can dig up some pics of my install and post them. Good luck.

reason why im going mini spool is so when racing season is over and the street radials go back on I can stick the 31 spline guts of the T lock back in for the winter seasons...

But i really would appricate some pictures if you had some. Also i would like to know more about the brake mounting bracket machined..

Thanks a lot.

I thought I had took pics of the houseing ends, but I didnt. I'm sure I could dig some up from the net somewhere if I need to. Another thing I forgot to mention, it wasn't important to me because I swapped out to a full manual brake set up for clearance cause of the big block. But I'm not sure if you'll be able to keep your ABS set up with c-clip elims. Maybe someone has a kit to use the ABS rings. Would be worth a phone call to Moser to find out or maybe someone else that uses ABS will chime in. On the other hand if you decide to just swap in c-clip axles you shouldn't have a problem. Just trying to give you an idea on your options.

I think I may just stay with c clips. I dont think I'll be breaking any axles ATM. Once I go full
race car that has a real spool I will do the c clip elminators. I'll still call up moser and see what they say. Thanks man
