Best PI motor to pick up

Gonna trade a 5.4 that I have out of a expedition for a 4.6 PI motor at a friend bone yard. What would be the best year/car/truck to get it out of? I have a mustang PI intake, so theres nothing to worry about there. Any ideas?

I think the '03-'04 GT engines have better threading in the heads so spark plugs don't blow out of them.

Look for a 4.6 Explorer, its a PI 2V with an aluminum block...save 80lbs

+1 on the explorer swap. Aluminum FTW!!

all you have to do is grind some idlers off and you dont even need to change the timing cover.

of course theres more to it... but its worth the weight savings

why not do the 5.4 L swap? if you already have the motor! i looked into it and it was pretty sick. One guy on another forum put down 270 rwhp and 37X rwtq with the stock motor and the adapter plates to make the intake from the 4.6 work. Not a hard swap at all

Or you could just buy my 02 gt engine and transmission with 37k on it that comes with computer, wiring harness, alternator, ps pump, ac compressor, starter, o2 sensors, and belt for only $1750
