I'm buying an Amp soon and I'm just wondering from people who have them already, where is the best place to mount it?

Looks like a good place, do you have any heat issues there? Doesn't look like it would, but I'm curious.

Sweet thanks! I bought an amp and install kit and got my sub working today.
Thought it would be hard to get it mounted to the seat, but its was surprisingly easy with hand tools.

Ran out of daylight so tomorrow I get the job of hiding all of the wires.

First time installing an amp and it went pretty well!

Where did you guys run your ground wires? the only bolt i could find was under the rear dash and it works, but my seat won't fold flat because the wire is holding it up... I looked under the rear seat but didn't see anything to hook it around.

my friend who is a car audio installer helped me install my sub and amp when i got it. he said the easiest place to mount it was here. i dont know if there is already a hole there because i was running wires near the battery when he grounded it and i never saw what was there before he did it.

mine is grounded using one of the rear seat belt bolts under the rear seat, best ground back there IMO.

I have mine on the back seat to... hope you used some shorter screws, you might not feel them now but someone might when you put the throttle down if they stick out too much.

I've owned my car for five years and never have had anyone sit behind me hahahaha
I didn't get a chance to work on it today cause its my birthday and I've been doing laundry and getting a party together.
Probably do it saturday/sunday and get pics of it to post! :)

Here are a couple tips that might come in handy.
Make sure yer running the correct power cable. As a rule of thumb, I never run anything smaller than 4g cable. If yer running a big mono block that pulls tons of amps you'll need the bigger cable to provide current or run the risk of damaging yer amp. Make sure to fuse the power cable under the hood NO MORE than 18 inches from the batt. Running 4g now allows upgrades down the road without having to run it again. The seatbelt bolt provides a good ground but hit the area with a wire brush real good to expose clean metal. Make sure you secure the amp very well. If it flops around the power can come loose and and cause fire or burn shit up quik. Read the amps install recomendations....Some amps have to be installed laying flat for cooling purposes.

I could go on........and on............. I've been doing car audio for a long time. PM me if ya have any questions and I'd be happy to help.

I have my amps mounted in the spare tire well and got a AAA membership, but it is not an average system either. I worked as an installer for over 10 yrs and rode around most of the time with my factory radio as I just didn't want to work on my car after doing everyone elses. After I quit that job, the hobby was fun again so I decided to put the system in my car I always wanted. It took a few months and alot of planning but works great.

Here it is if you want some ideas, let me know and I can help explain.

The screws you show in the pic for the ground a small self-tapping sheet metal screws, there was no hole there before. This is a common practice although a nut/bolt will work better. You also need to be carefull to use short screws so you do not puncture the gas tank.
