Join me on this adventure as i collaborate a front brake upgrade for nearly 25years of mustangs.

There exists a front big brake upgrade by the use of 96-98 cobra 2piston calipers and cobra 13in rotors. This is an awesome upgrade to the pathetic 11in single piston brakes found on all gt mustangs. The stock gt brakes were fantastic for 15in wheels and expectations of long braking distances otherwise known as "driving Ms Daisy" style of driving. Not for performance....at all!

The most recent big brake upgrade utilizes the cobra 13in rotor and a 4 piston 2piece caliper from a cadillac ATS and similar like chevy platforms. A $180 bushing kit is needed to adapt this caliper to the mustang spindle and an included shim placed between the spindle hub and rotor to center the rotor to the caliper. Cadilac calipers are $150ea, adapter kit is $180.

Here is the Hyundai Genisis 4piston solid aluminum caliper idea.

A friend recently discovered a big brake option for his Acura TSX. The calipers are hyundai genisis and 13in rotors are from a nissan rouge 3rd row seating suv, however my investigation for rouge rotor overall diameter comes up 12.66".....All a Direct bolt in though. Minis wheel clearances...(but we not focusing on that)

The stock acura rotor is nearly identical to a mustang rotor in rotor centerline, meaning when its bolted on, the rotor is center between the brake pads. (There could be a technical term for that, i dont know). The acura lug pattern is the same as well. The hub bore is not. The acura overall diameter is bigger, but im not 100% sure how much and im not 100% sure of genisis caliper diameter allowance.

The hyundai genisis caliper mounting tabs are NOT the same as the mustang. Mustang bolt distance is in the area of 5.125" and the genisis caliper is in the area of 5.500". NOT A DIRECT BOLT ON......BUT a possible idea with a simple adapter bracket like found with some other vehicle big brake kits.

Here is what im thinking:
Genisis solid aluminum 4piston caliper, simple adapter braket along with cobra 13in rotor. The hyundai caliper is $150 new

Im not even sure a big ass brake like this would be desirable.

BUT im throwing this out there....food for thought

Sounds like it may be a decent street set up. Not sure there are many trackable pads for a Nissan rouge. Do you know the weights of the calipers by chance?

So, here is the skinny with these Hyundai Genesis 4 piston calipers adapted onto an sn95 Mustang. The addition space required between the wheel and outer side of the caliper would have to be substantially more. Very possible swap, but wheel selection to something like a full face FWD wheel or newer mustang type wheels and NOT a deep dish. Also the tie rod placement on the spindle is nearly touching the rotor back side in stock form, preventing any deeper inset rotor.

The swap is very possible with a simple made mounting bracket for the caliper and cobra rotor. Youll need a wheel to accommodate the additional caliper thickness
