Well I blew out 3rd and 4th gear on the dyno yesterday so I am exploring new transmission options. I was originally going to swap in a t56 and I have already bought all the swap parts needed for it, but there are a few things keeping me from doing it. One being is that I have gotten into drag racing lately and the t56 gear ratio's suck for it. Two is that I have a 4r70w sitting in my garage collecting dust that I think would work out well for drag racing. What I need to do to it to make it last with 450hp and slicks? Suggestion on a tq converter also. Thanks!

Get a hardened intermediate shaft (link I sent you)
Get a dirty dog stall (call them and talk to them, they will give you best info)
Get a jmod shift kit
Get gears if you don't have them

Call it a day

I'm pleased with the BC-Automative 4r70w Transmission and Circle-D 3800 stall that I have. You will need 4.10's or higher numerically gears if you plan on stalling it.

Not true, he doesn't need a 4.10 or higher.

Depending on what he will do, he can run a 3.73.

But I believe he will put a 4v supercharged in so a 4.10-4.30 might fit him well.

Just incase someone else reads this and isn't doing a 4v swap, just because he has an auto doesn't mean he needs a 4.10 gear. I have an auto and I figured that out.

yeah, my car will soon be supercharged 4v. I think 4.10's might be tire roasting time. I don't know though. Never driven an auto stang before. So are you totally happy with the 3800 stall?

Yeah the 3800 has been great. Not too bad daily driving it either.

3.73 = Waste of time with an Automatic.

I'm a big fan of BC
Thats who i'd like to rebuild my trans for me if everything goes as planned.

Darren at BC was great to deal with. transmission was shipped on time and he answers emails! I like his tail shaft lubrication modification as well.

Tell that to Justin. I'm sure you will get a different response.

Depending on what he wants to do is what depends on what gear he should get. 4v's love 4.30s which is very common.

But a 3.73 is not a waste in an automatic. I thought that at first too, until I talked to a few people with built automatics and they gave me a different look at it.

3.73 = Waste of time with an Automatic when you have 218 rwhp!

Fixed.

That's a stupid statement cause it all depends on what tires your running, power level, type of power adder, gear set in transmission and what you plan on doing with the car.

4.10s in my car would be plain stupid...besides the fact that I would never get traction, I would run out of gear at like 108 mph in third gear with a 26 inch tall tire

That's kinda a problem since my car will trap close to 120 in the 1/4

My car is a street car so even 3.73s are kinda stupid since first gear is worthless, 2nd gear is hard to get traction in too.

BUT, if you are running a near stock 2v 4r70w, 4.10s are the perfect gear.

For now I'm not going automatic. I will be so unhappy. I love shifting way too much. I might give promotion a try with either my 3650 or t45 though.

go with the 3650, Not that i mind my T-45 but the Tremec is a better trans i think.

and as for your previous post, 4.10's doesnt mean tire roasting time, i think a supercharged 4Valve alone means tire roasting time lol, good luck with your build.
