hey, i just realized that my block doesn't have holes for the spider. I can't identify the casting number other than the E0AE, which means it is an 85 block? instead of an 86 (out of an 86 mustang...) Do i just get the holes drilled and tapped, or is there another way to make sure this is a roller block? I'm kinda worried that it may not be now...

E0 means it is a block from 1980.

You have 3 options.

1) keep it and use it with a flat cam (most likely its flat)

2.) Buy retrofit lifters and drill for the spider.

3.) Ditch the block and find a roller.

well, i can't figure out since i've been reading...is it still a roller block then? The block has already had 350+ dollars invested in it by the previous owner and he had told me it was a roller from an 86. is there a way to tell if it is for a flat cam? the only other part number i can read is a 301 on the trans side behind where the lower intake sits.

I've been reading even more, do you have to have the retrofit lifters if you have the spider drilled?

if i were to just go with a flat cam, would i need different springs for the valves? or should i just get my stock block done? idk what to do cause i don't have all that much money or time to do this in...

How much can you sell the block for?

I would throw it out there for $300 - $400 and see if you get any bites.

Any losses you end up getting just take it as a learning experience...or just use it as a flat motor.

update:
well, i was looking online and i believe i just got a new cam and lifters for it for a pretty good deal. I got the link style retrofit lifters and a better cam for a 347 and I'll just sell my tfs1 cam that i was going to use. Then later down the road i'll have the retrofit lifters if i ever need them for a 351 or something.

crisis averted
