When Boosting your car or adding nitrous controlling the timing is critical to keeping the block in one piece.

A crankshaft trigger wheel is the most accurate way to track the crankshaft. DIY fabrication of a trigger wheel may require you to space out all of your pulleys. However there is a fairly cheap bolt on option for our cars.

1996-2001 v8 Ford Explorers Have a 50oz harmonic balancer that bolts on directly and requires no pulley spacing.

I picked this one up at a local yard for $40
I used a masterpro crankshaft position sensor
$18
3D print PTEG Filament bracket
$0.50

Optional Ford Explorer timing cover has the sensor already mounted can also be sourced for around $40

Step 1 Remove stock balancer

Step 2 Install new balancer

Step 3 install bracket or optional timing cover. If needed I can send you the STL file for 3D printing which works with the master pro sensor.

Step 4 wire sensor per your ecu or ignition module instructions

Step 5 measure for a different size belt. Sorry I do not have a stock accessory configuration so I can not give an exact size. If someone else finds out I will update.

Glad to see it bolted up with no issues. This will make it easy for a lot of guys going forward with big mods on the pushrods.

I think the crank and the heads are the weak point. I’ve bent both the factory crank and gt40s but my block has not split
