Did u buy from a "Buy Here Pay Here" type of lot? I know the lot i brought from before was a big dealer, but they only put them on people they classified as credit risk.

Otherwise thats odd

Ugh I HATE working on cars with those that are bought through "finicial help credit rebuilder" companies. They always have those stupid f*cking dinging chimes that if you don't know it's there, will start ringing and won't shut off for a while and won't allow you to start the car, major PITA when working flat rate. Have to take keys out, shut door, get in, turn key on, wait until you get the ok 2 rings then it starts. Such a pain!!!

Yeah I did considering I haven't built my credit up yet and it was too good of a deal to pass up, so that would make sense as far as "credit risk" goes.

Haha sounds like you have your fair share of encountering these :p mine doesn't chime at all, just turn the key and go!

I am not familiar with this dealer practice but this is a clear invasion of privacy, Is it a loan requirement that you sign for or something that they do on their own?

I see. Well my credit is shit and they wanted to put one on my car after i brought it. They never did, but kept contacting me saying the finance company wants to put one on my car. Never did happen lol. That was over 1.5 years ago.

The dealerships can track the vehicles for certain risks. New cars are all tracked in some system somewhere, for all types of purposes. The notification of the tracking device and associated BS is usually buried in the contract paperwork. I've had a few cars that had devices like these, mainly just tracking units, no the cut-off device. Review your contract, the dealer may have certain rights until the loan is paid off, as they do technically own it until then.

I'd be taking the bish off. Or just ripping the power wire out, so if they come running you could be like "Why what ever do you mean? I haven't done anything. I don't know anything about cars or wiring"

yea. I'm with Steven... Id try and route it down by my clutch pedal, rip it apart, that way if they look into it it'll just look like the clutch pedal snagged it/mashed it into oblivion. ;-)

I'd cut it out of the harness they spliced it into. I have to start running gauges in my car when I do my procharger install, If I had that sh*t clustering up my wiring, I'd say f*ck the legal reasons lol.
