That's really surprising. Every home I've had (3 in the last 8 years) has had them insulated, walls and ceiling. Guess maybe I just got lucky?

The few that I had seen were older homes. Haven't seen a house less than 10-15 years old that has had it.

I've asked a lot of builders as to why and they explained that it's for 2 reasons.

1) why spend the added cost to insulate something that 90% of the people won't need climate controlled.

2)garages are exposed to way more moisture due to pulling in vehicles that are constantly wet and putting off vapors. Insulation holds in moisture.

That's what I've been told and really when you think about it, makes sense.

Your heater will take care of the humidity ;)
I insulated my garage, and have a heater similar to the one you posted. It's the way to go in winter. Granted I don't pull in wet cars on a daily basis, but I often wash a car and pull it in on the lift to dry off and wipe down in the winter. one issue you may want to look at is the grade and how water collects around the edges of the doors, most pads settle there with the weight of the structure, so you may want to caulk/seal that area if you'll be having water on the ground on a regular basis. if water pools to the corners a broom handle squeegee will do the trick.

I'm gearing up to do a remodel of the master bed/bath. it's in my basement. I'd like to add this insulation to the ceiling and interior walls.

I got all the drywall pinned up with the help of my brother. Always nice to have a second set of hands while throwing up a full sheet; not that I haven't done it before on my own which is a little trickier. I started on the single car garage side knowing it was going to be a bit more work with having to work around the hoist and moving a few things out of the way. I'm glad this part of the process is done!

Too late now but you could of ran some air lines in the walls with multiple spots to plug up an air hose.

Just a thought for anyone else who is gonna try something like his in the future.

Looking really good tho, gonna be awesome when it's all done!!!

With some of the newer setups available that's not as much of a problem anymore.

I did consider doing that but I find myself using the air compressor less and less with these cordless high torque impact wrenches.

I've always seen them on the outside as well.

Love your set up!

I hate doing drywall :)

I don't mind pinning, taping or mudding but I can's stand sanding!

I'm upgrading my compressor but no fancy air lines, probably just a retractable ceiling mount.

I agree, I like having access to all air in a garage. It's not like it's hard to just run it along the wall for multiple outlets. Mine is actually ran along the ceiling.

Looks great!

Prior to the snow flying, I siliconed the garage door seals and adjusted the garage man door as there was a tiny gap running from the lock down. Hopefully, all these little things will help keep the heat in.

This morning, I had the same company (that did the spray foam) return and top dress the garage ceiling with blow-in insulation. They added 15" of fill which is an additional R48 on top of the R24 of the spray foam. This gives me a great R value: R48 + R24 = R72

They also added a thick piece of fiberglass to the attic hatch and topped up a few low spots in other areas of the house. These guys did another great job and definitely don't skim on the material provided.

This was the only section that wasn't spray foamed for obvious reasons. It was left squared off for me to add some Roxul. I initially placed a rough cut of drywall over this section, but today I took my time and made a precise drywall cut.
