Now that the car is just a weekend toy..

I want to look into several things..

Running double the boost I am now...

And possibly a built auto..

I don't know anything about transmissions but I know my buddy with a WS6 had a built auto and it was basically like a manual but he slapped the shifter forward to shift...

Seems pretty bad ass to me and auto > manual for drag racing.

What transmission do I need to look at and how much work would it be?

well you could go with something like a LENTECH AOD, or go for a pro built C4, either way you can look to spend some big bucks for a good one. I think the AOD goes for almost 2k or so

I got a buddy running a PA valvebody, 3500 stall and a trans-cooler..... he's in the 9.90 range and it's help up just fine so far. The valvebody retains stock auto shifts in D (drive) but will hold to any RPM in 1-2-3...... It's runs about $270 thru JEGS, here's the P/N 732-PA45301L and a link to more info

I run an Art Carr C4, 6,000 stall Edge Converter, and a B&M Ratchet shifter. The tranny is the only thing on my car that seems to be holding up . . lol.

The Art Carr package is about 2k for the whole thing.

You might also check out Redneck Transmissions. I've heard a lot of guys having good luck with em.

Yep, I agree with the 3 speed on a street driven car, and they can be setup as listed. by the quarter. :thumb:

you can use any shifter you want, even a stock auto shifter, i use a B&M Hammer though. True Rachet set-up, its freakin sweet.

The tranny cost me 3200. That was with the converter, which isnt too bad.
Its the strongest one he could build. Strong enough for more than 800rwhp

I didnt go with a manual valvebody because i wanna be able to put it in drive and just go when im just cruisin around town. But if you wanna have to shift it all the time you can go full manual valvebody so you have to bump it everywhere you go.

I'll show you my shifter next time i see you.
