Looking at a bumpsteer kit since I dropped my car 2". I work at a shop so I can install the kit myself and align it, but on MM website, it says I need to use the bumpsteer gauge. Do I need to take it somewhere with one of these gauges to align it properly? And is there any alternative to a bump steer kit that WON'T wear out as fast? Can't help but think that the exposed link will corrode or rust after a year or two.

I talked to MM about this when I did mine and they said in most cases the bumpsteer gauge is way over the top. They said the main thing is for the control arm and tie rod to be parallel to each other which you can do without the gauge. Under extreme race conditions in a purpose built race car you may notice this is not 100% but as far as the driving most of us do it will work out fine. I noticed quite an improvement with my kit.

There are some purists though that will say the only way to properly set it up is to use the gauge, but I'd go ahead and give it a shot without it first and see if you aren't rather happy with it.
