Needs: headliner, a/c charged, ash tray door kit, console pad/arm rest door, carpet, couple holes in the leather, needs some paint and my name on the title

You'd be better off paying 4K for a car in better shape.

One in much better shape and not an AOD is easily attainable for $4k. I know he's your bud and all but that's too much for a ratty AOD car. WAY too much. $2k would be more like it.

From my experience the torque boxes on AOD cars are usually in alot better shape than 5-speed cars. Just something to keep in mind.

It's hard to say. What a car is worth can vary from state to state. I would compare your friend's fox to other "similar" condition foxes in your area. For example 5 spd notchbacks in CA are well sought after and carry a higher demand price than I have seen in other states. But the bottom line is, do you think it is a fair price?

this car was a two owner car. well three if you count my mechanic. a woman owned it for from 93 to 2004, traded it in. another chick bought it and got it repo'd. sat at the finance company [two blocks from my house] for 13 months. they told me it had to go to auction :blah2: turned my mech onto it, he snatched it. ive been driving it to work while my 95 has been in his shop. car is dead solid. just wasnt kept up on the interior side. i get about 300-310 miles from a tank of gas drivin 70 on my commute. im offerin 3 grand with all 4 in my pocket... either way, im gettin the loan tomorrow.. pics soon, in all its fallen ratty glory

As the owner of a high mileage Fox, make sure the car sits level (no Fox-lean!). Mine is twisted and it bugs the SH!T outta me!! I didn't know any better when I bought it, and thought that the shocks were just worn out on the driver side (I bought it from a BIG FAT ASS). I've put in a whole new rear suspension trying to fix what has turned out to be a twisted body :crying:.
Mine's a 5spd and the torque boxes were trashed -as were all of my bushings.
Of course, I should also mention that the car was a drag toy and had 190k+ miles on it. I wanted a 5.0 5spd LX so bad and I could afford it -should have done more searching/research!!!

OH, yeah -the A/C issue. I was told that mine would just need to be charged. SO NOT THE CASE!!! Before you buy that sh!t have the A/C charged and see if it holds. Mine never did, and I've been quoted $700 to fix my a/c!

For 4k bucks that thing is a pile.... sorry, thats the truth.

1500-2k is much more reasonable.

Have you priced out the things you said above it needed? I'm with Paul, you'd be better off paying 4k for a cleaner car.

i bought the car for 3,000. he's paying for an alignment, fixing the a/c, headliner/visors and also a new set of adj. uppers for my 95. all that has to be worth 500-600 bucks. i feel i've made a good deal

Not a $4K car but in its defense, still nicer than 80% of the Foxes I've seen that weren't show cars. Looks like a virgin so to speak with the air silencer still being there and all. Most of the "defects" you've listed are common Fox stuff.

It's ultimately your money and your choice, don't just jump on it 'cause it's there. I speak from experience- both my Stang and my old Turbo Coupe are testaments to that- LOL I don't learn from mistakes

I don't know where you guy's are shopping, but these thing's are 20 years old now. I've sent about 5 of them off to the scrapyard myself because they "were worth fixing" . In the midwest/northeast, they are getting pretty thin on the ground.
