man, so i rn the car super hot, left it running before i smogged it, and it still failed nox gas.
i dont get it. im so confused and frustrated as hell!!!
any ideas? i'll post the new results up tomorrow

well, i still stand by a failure of some kind in the EGR system OR a messed up catalytic converter... I have a feeling that swapping a set of old used cats would never do any good.

still i'm mostly leaning towards the EGR problem. Try to take the car when its not really hot dude... high nox levels are caused by high combustion chamber temperatures.

when i change out the stock intakes, i will not run it hard before i take it in.
is there a way to test the egr valve alone? two of the cats on the hpipe are brand new

first check if the vaccum is working properly. That could be an issue especially if you got a cam. Also if you have an intake other than the stock one it is possible that your egr might be "connected" but not recirculating the air correctly.

ok everything is back to stock, timing set back at 10* anything i should do before i take it in for the 3rd test?

Yes I will.
I had troubles with mine till I started pulling the spout before the snif.
Now it passes like it's not even running.
In Feb. when I get sniffed again, I'm going to try to run with my hollowed out cats to see if it will pass anyway.

i want to pull the spout, but im afraid it will get noticed. (it only goes in one way) im thinking of puting it in wrong, so its not hooked up but will pass inspection. prolly just tape it in. hopefully ill find a shop that wont fail me for stupid shit!

don't be afraid. really. It's just a jumper wire inside plastic.
I pull the end and put it in my pocket till after the test. Just tuck pigtail back behind the airfilter.
The dude will never know.

went to smog at a shop, and the fuckhead wouldnt pass me because he said " if i pass you, it will look bad on me since it failed twice already." then took it to a shop, and when he put my vin# in a red screen popped up and said " take to referee or test only shop" WTF do i do now?!! anyone have any great ideas? i had the spout disconnected, so i dont even know how much of a diff it made.:(

In Ga. you must take the car for the retest at the shop that failed you.
Take it back to the shop on Monday and talk to the Mgr about the tech not wanting to test you.
If you still get grief call the Dept of Energy (or whoever the sniffers report to in Ca.) and report the incident.
You might also ask to have the car inspected elsewhere because your afraid of retribution.

Too late. I put it up for sale last night. I've been dealing with this shit since June. The car has sat in my garage the hole time.
