Can i beat an 04 GT

As the title states is it possible for our cars to beat an 04 5 speed gt. I just happened to race my friends 04 gt the other night. We raced from a first gear roll at 20 mph because he said i had et streets M/T and that it would be best for him. I have the mods in my sig but i ran him without the NOS of course. So we get to it, and we stay neck to neck until i'm finishing my 3rd gear when I throw 4th he starts to pull on me little by little but after a little bit he couldn't pull anymore so he was ahead of me by about 1 car length or 2. Now his mods are pullies, cold air, diablo chip full exahust and 2.73 rear end gears. We tested his car at 5800rpm on fourth gear he clocked 152mph... on that race i revved my engine to like 5700rpm on 4th gear and he revved his motor up to 5400 rpms so i'm gessing i was doing about 140 ish MPH right behind him and i have 3.08 gears. Basically i'm stock from throttle body to oil pan minor bolt ons only is what i have. The only thing i was using differently from the mods in my sig is my new TOY "Tweecer R/T". But i thought he should have destoyed me, not barely pull on me. The same night he ran my friends 95 gt 5.0 with 3.73 gears, Pullies full exhaust, trickflow street heat intake manifold, cold air intake... and he beat my friends 5.0 by like 5-6 car lengths i just don't get it either i got a very good factory motor or That tweecer tuning system is the freaking best you could buy.... ??????? comments anyone?

driver error maybe :dunno: it happens. you hear npi's staying with pi's all the time

could be but i know it is not driver error becasue the driver is an NHRA certified member and he owns a shop down here plus i have seen him drive for a very long time and he is a good driver..

i stayed length n a half behind an 02 gt in my 94 gt
all i did was take out the pollution pump
and some minor weight reduction hah
(tire,jack,backseat,pass seat,a/c,n some others) :hammer:
and i have badd valve float after like 5k so i was undershifting pretty bad

I leave them seeing tail lights all day...but I'm not really close to stock. I've never had one with bolt ons hang.

i just think that 94 95 mustang with the 5.0 are very restricted.i mean ecu wise, you guys should see the kind of thigs they make these cars do, like retard timing when between shifts, evac system, egr man super conservative timing table, and the list goes on on on, but i think these cars do more than what they appear they do....

302 is a great motor but stock for stock neither the 94 nor the 95 is gonna hang with an 04 GT..

werd. But I think they mod better. So if you had both those cars with each having full bolt ons I'd give it to the 302.

Well i just ran another 02 gt with exhaust and 3.27 stock gears on a 20 mph roll and this one was worse than the one i ran before i was next to him until 3rd gear and he pulled on me barely by 3/4 of a car length when i put in 4th he let off and i blasted by him almost crashing him... i can't believe these cars are so slow.... i mean compared to a 94 - 95 which are the slowest of all these mustangs am I correct????

I raced a bone stock 04 gt from a stop and destroyed him. When we raced from a roll it was pretty much dead even. But then again...im auto which is pretty terrible for racing from a roll.

well all you guys have decent mods, most of you have good gears. did these new edges have gears? a modded car vs. a stock car is an unfair comparison.

I thought the sn95 5.0's were ok better than 96-98 npi 4.6's. LIke I was saying in stock form probably not the best but they mod well. My wife has an 01 GT which is pretty stock cept for full exhaust, pullies and CAI it'll get raped by mine though.

You have a 5.0, you will eat him off the line, thats why he wanted a roll race, so he could shit on you. My 94 gt shits on my cobra off the line but as soon as the cobra hits 3400rpms the 4.6 walks away. You have to properly use what you got if you wanna win, run him from a dig and see how you do.

new edge stangs have 3.27 rear I believe. Stock for stock the new edge should pull away from npi. But stock for stock I think a good drivr in a 5 speed npi could beat a bad driver in a auto pi gt. A pi gt weighs a bit more than a npi 5 speed.

Yeah edges have 3.27 rear gears (stock). A 5 spd npi could take an auto pi but like you said it depends on the driver and whether or not either is a coupe or vert ;D

I raced an 03 GT coupe with my Vert. I had my ole' npi with pulleys, exhaust. He had a catback and a catted h. don't know what else but he took me everytime. given, my car was having issues and it kept bogging off the line (like it wasn't getting enough electrical power :dunno: ) and he would jump ahead but i would always reel him in up to about his drivers door and then we'd run out of road. but he could never shake me.
