Can I get one of you to throw a photo up looking at the front of your engine showing how the darn bracket that holds the alternator is mounted. I swear I just sat out in the garage for 20 minutes trying to figure out how that dang bracket mounts.

I know it is 3 bolts, I remember one was hidden behind the tensioner...... Problem is I swapped to the GT40 heads and for some reason the bracket is not ligning up correctly. I know the alternator sits somewhat at an angle in relation to the oil fill tube on the valve covers, but sitting it that way the holes are not lining up. Seems to me it was the two bolt holes that are above and below where the freeze plug is in the head and then the 3rd hole was the one at the lower right of the head.

I dont know, maybe I was just tired last night...... I had been working on it for about 9 hours.

Yeah, take a break from it and come back and it will probably bolt right up.

Topless..... Thanks for the photos, I will see if I can figure it out by what your photo shows. Looks like it sits a little farther to the left than I originally thought. I farted with it again today for about 5 minutes and the bracket almost went into the trash can. The Power steering/ AC bracket walked right up to the motor and "clunk" went right where I thought it went. This Aleternator / smog pump bracket is really getting on my nerves.

Here you go dude. I grabbed my spare bracket and mocked it up on the motor I'm building...

Three bolts into the cylinder head. The gold one is the "big" one, and the other two are smaller.

Hope that helps.

Verrry slowly. LOL

I've been working mostly on the notch ever since the motor went south on it. Once it's running again I'll re-focus my efforts on the silver car. I posted a quick thread a few days ago in the garage about it.

The guy before had the clutch adjusted too tight, which caused the crank to ride against the thrust bearinig, which subsequently dug a 1/8" groove in the crankshaft, which sent metal through the motor, which destroyed all the bearings and the oil pump. I drove it a total of 380 miles before it died. Nice.

I'll be replacing the whole interior in the notch too. Going black. :)
