Hi everyone, I'm new to this Stang world but not to Fords as I own a '90 Ranger 4.0 and a '96 T-Bird V8, but I got some questions with a SN95 5.0

I got this issue with a 95 GT. The car has the Check Engine light on, so my father went to get it scanned, but the guy that was scanning the computer told him the following: "Can't comunicate with computer".

Now, this car has the EGR deleted, we know that throws out a code, but why there's no comunication with the car's computer to retreive the code(s)? ???

Also, the ABS light is on and would like to retreive the codes, is it done also thru the same port as the engine's computer or there's another way to get them out?

I think the ABS port is under the hood , drivers side inner wing [fender], i test some cars here, but its only odd makes [like Saab, Daewoo] that it wont communicate with. I had to buy a Mustang specific one though for my own car. :)
Does it have anything aftermarket thats attached to the ecu, that might be fooling the scanner ie: tuner etc?

The ABS test port is next to your fuse box near driver wheelwell. Your self test computer port is on passenger side wheelwell closest to firewall. The guy was probubly trying to use the under dash port which isn't hooked up to the computer. It was put in all 95 mustangs but is only used in v6's.

Thanks for your responses guys!

mmh... I'm not sure if the car has a tuner, chip or anything that could fool the ECU, will have to check that.
What would be the steps to manually retreive the codes in case the scanners keep reading the "Can't comunicate with Computer" message?

On the ABS light thing, we haven't scanned that yet and I think the guy couldn't find the port. So the under-the-dash port isn't hooked to any computer at all? being ECU or ABS?
So the self test computer port is on the passenger side wheelwell and do I have to just ground any of the cables and start checking for the ABS light flashes?

btw, that's the car I'm talking about in the avatar, is a Cobra clone.

Ryclef has a post on manuely retrieving cels. Search retrieving codes or look at his posts. I did it myself and it was pretty easy. I just jump wired and watched the light. Pencil and paper and a 3 inch piece of wire is all thats needed. Remember the 111 code is just tellin you the test is working. Mine did the 111 twice then spit the codes.
