Car is sort of sputtering...?

hmm, well, as I said, I wanted to change the pump anyhow, so now is a good time to do it and see if it fixes it, along with the crank sensor.
What are other ideas though?

Problem with just checking fuel pressure is how intermittent it is. Rich's idea sounds the best, get a gauge up on my windshield while I'm driving and wait for it to have it's little sputtering issue. Lately it's been every day but it used to only be an every now and again thing.

I had a similar problem. Car ran out of steam and fell flat from 5500-7200 and 2 weeks later the FP locked up...

Might be on the right track. Yours is a pita to do compared to mine. Just make sure you buy a filler neck seal/gromet before you drop the tank as it will probably rip. And lube it with vasoline or similar for re install.

Dropping the tank isn't bad monkey. Mostly depends on the condition of everything... I had one strap that was corroded and needed some persuasion. The filler neck is kinda of annoying, but once you figure it out its not bad.

From what you've done to your car you won't have much trouble doing it.
