haha NO! That is your brake master cylinder which take brake fluid. I've never really looked at a auto trans stang auto dipstick but it is probably near the rear of the motor around the firewall. Its on the passenger side. BTW where did you get the strut top covers, I need something like that.

generally the dipstick will be toward the rear of the engine and the handle is usually yellow or red.

If you can't find it take a few pics under the hood and we can repost the pic with an arrow. If I had an auto I would go ahead and take care of it, but maybe someone on here with an auto will

The tranny dipstick on my 94 thunderbird sc was black, which was the same tranny as a 3.8 mustang. Its gonna be on the passenger side of the motor near the firewall. Just look back there it shouldn't be too hard to find.

auto tranny dipstick should be red on the passenger side of the car near the back of the motor.

hmm. And you said, for example, if you are heading uphill, trying to accelerate, and it starts shaking, then you
let off the gas pedal, then push on the gas pedal, and the vibration is gone? ( i know that was a long run on sentence)

thats most cases, sometimes even if i let go and try again it'll still do it anyway. i was in the passenger seat the other day and was trying to listen closely and it sounds like its coming from the rear of the car. i really want to fix this but i cant just bring it to the mechanic and tell him to explore, i just dont have that kind of money.

just bring it to my place ;-)

anyways, if its coming from the rear of the car, you should be able to feel it in your tooshy while you drive...

i have a feeling its the tranny or TQ converter messing up... wheres JR? :-(

check the tranny fluid when teh car is warm and running...

i mean... if its happening when you press the gas, and the motor runs fine, its obviously in the drivetrain SOMEWHERE... and i doubt its u-joints... that doesnt make any sence... and the Diffy would make sounds at all times if it was broken AND it wouldnt cause performance issues like that...

im 90% sure its the transmission or TQ converter... either fix = pricey at a shop.

Check your u-joints, especially the rear u-joint where it goes into the rear. It is something you can do with out taking it to the shop.

To check the u-joints jack up the back of the car. (USE JACK STANDS) crawl underneeth and lift on the u-joints, twist the drive shaft, and if you want you can put a bar between the u-joint and yoke for some extra leverage. You are looking for play at the caps where the u-joint goes into the yoke.

When you are twisting and turning the drive shaft try and feel or listen for binding in the needle bearings. If there is any binding replace them. If you hear anything replace them. If you hear something it may have a crunching sound, most likely it will be very faint and hard to hear.
