i have a 95 v6 and lately its been havin a problem that i dont know what it is exactly. this is what happens:

when im driving and i press the gas pedal to accelerate sometimes it makes this grinding noise with a slight shaking feeling and the car cant accelerate. its almost as if it cant catch gears. if i let the gas pedal go and try again it works. this only happens with the gas pedal and its not like it does it when im not pressing on it. it doesnt really have a pattern, as in it doesnt matter what speed it is or how high the rpms are or any of that, its just random. i think it just cant catch gears sometimes but my grandfather doesnt agree.

has anyone had the same problem or know what it is? how much will it cost to fix it

thanks!

Where do you feel the shaking, steering, floor? Does it sound like it is coming from front, middle, or rear? Sometimes rear end problems sound like the trans because the noises and vibrations will travel up the drive shaft.

As stated it is very dificult to diagnose noises without hearing them. You will need to be more specific.

Can you take a camera with you and record the car driving, and hope it makes the sound? that would help tremendously in diagnosing the problem if you can get it to make noise.

u dont need to be a bitch about it. yea maybe i should take it to the mechanic and tell him to drive my car around for an hour or two or maybe tell him to take apart the transmission only to have him say he doesnt know what it is, and then have him charge me 600 bucks just for the labor. so no thank you.

im not sure exactly how to pinpoint it, thats exactly why i have no idea what it could be so i figured maybe some1 had a similar problem before. when the car does it, the shaking isnt in the steering wheel or anything so my hands dont shake, but it feels like my seat shakes a little bit. i think it may be coming from the back but im not positive. it happens alot when the car is trying to go up an incline, even if its not even a big hill, for example going up a ramp onto the highway. i can try and take a video but the sound quality on my camera isnt very good

hmm. And you said, for example, if you are heading uphill, trying to accelerate, and it starts shaking, then you
let off the gas pedal, then push on the gas pedal, and the vibration is gone? ( i know that was a long run on sentence)

thats most cases, sometimes even if i let go and try again it'll still do it anyway. i was in the passenger seat the other day and was trying to listen closely and it sounds like its coming from the rear of the car. i really want to fix this but i cant just bring it to the mechanic and tell him to explore, i just dont have that kind of money.

when was the last time the trans was serviced? Slight possibility of a clogged screen. Also what color is the fluid on your dipstick and does it have a burnt odor to it?

i have no idea when the last time was, and i couldnt find anything labeled for the transmission fluid, there was one cap that i thought it could be but it said not to open it unless if the cap was cleaned so i didnt want to risk it.

also the car has always had regular oil changes, and the last one was in the beginning of january
