OK, ive done all the searches on this forum and all over the web and cannot find the culprit to my problems. Before i begin i would like to say that IT IS NOT MY BATTERY or TERMINALS!!

So i stopped at a friends house, turned the car off. Ten minutes later, go to start the car and all i get is a single click from the starter itself, and no sign of the engine turning over. Thought this was odd, i had just replaced my starter and here it goes again? So i went and got my starter warrentied and threw the new one in. STILL nothing. Got my battery load tested, it checks out and has a full charge. I also checked the relay and its perfectly fine.

Help me out, im ready to push my car into the river! :BangHead: :BangHead:

It always clicks once? The ONLY thing I know of is that fuel cutoff button in the trunk? If it was that it should not even click, I wouldn't think. Sorry, I'm dumber than a rock!!!!

I know you said you checked your cables, but seeing as it is easy to get the bendix to pop out amp wise(which is probably the click you hear), you are probably not getting the amperage to turn the starter motor. I would check all your cables again and if you have a multimeter check the resistance, if you need some baseline numbers go to the parts store and use your meter to see what the readings on a new cable are. Hope this helps, just try to not get too frustrated.

^ check resistance and check ground.... the fuel pump cutoff switch just does that, cuts-off fuel to the engine, so it cranks and cranks
but no start, not just one click (happened to me after a rear end collision). It might be just some of the stupid stuff, i had a small ground
connection come loose in my old 89 fox, and it clicked once, and i found the loose connect., then fired right up.. Check all the little stuff,
because after all it ran 10 minutes prior, something must have bumped loose, or shorted out..

Not just the gounds, but the power wires also. Just because you have 12 volts showing doesnt mean that you will have the amperage the starter needs. Also it could be a second defective starter, I've seen it happen before

Problem solved. Turns out the starter mounting surface was dirty enough not to make a good contact. Cleaned that along with replacing the power wire to the starter and the ground to the engine. Thing starts up soo much quicker. Thanks for the help guys.
