Well my car won't start. Was at the store yesterday and got back in it, started it, about 5 seconds later it just shut off and now i can't get it back on.

I initially tested the car for spark, both from a plug wire and from a coil. Nothing.. So..

I replaced the ignition coil. Still nothing. Still no spark from anything.

Next on the list of the Ignition Module, the thing right under the Airbox and intake. Replaced that.. Still nothing.

So now I've pulled codes, but the only code that i get is "116 - ECT" and I'm pretty sure that's stemming from the cars inability to start...

So my last ideas are either the Distributor or that box that's on the passenger side of the radiator, which i can't remember the name...

Any ideas?

Right now all i want for Christmas is my car to run.. :crybaby2:

Does it have gas? If so, does it have pressure at the rail? Poke the schraeder valve on the rail and see if fuel sprays out.

Definitely has gas. Pressure doesn't really bother me as i've got no spark from anything...

And the car is stranded, and wasn't able to get it towed today because it's x-mas eve. So tomorrow i'll be diagnosing more, but won't be able to do anything till Saturday unfortunately. It's not far from my house, but still annoying.

Whats the name of that box that a bunch of wires go into on the passenger side of the radiator?

There's no point in checking for fuel pressure seeing as i have no spark... The fuel pump is priming. Unless you can give me a good reason as to why i should? I do need to replace the fuel filter though. And on a spree of more good luck, the parts stores here in good ol Lynchburg don't have any disty's in stock. This town is seriously a black hole. Ugh. So i'm stranded until one gets shipped in, which one is available in Richmond... Where i live. I love Christmas... *sarcasm*

Defiantly sounds like you need your distributor replaced. I don't why everyone is saying check your fuel pressure. lol If you hear the pump prime and you have pressure at the rail, then your ok on the fuel part.

Good luck with your stang man!!

wow. lol. not that this is funny in ANY way. but its amazingly ironic. cuz i encountered the EXACT problems as you. starting yesterday my car decided it wouldnt start. so i decided to jump it but it turned over and the rpms immediately fell to zero. jumped it again and just gave it gas up to 2000 rpms and the car was extremely hesitant. but got through it and decided to run for me. so i got home tonight and i shut it off for thrity seconds and it started right back up. so do you think its still the dizzy? and it just doesnt like to start when its cold? and, should i just go OEM or go with an MSD or something?? hopefully we can both get this straightened out. let me kno if the new dizzy solves your problems

I wouldn't go with an MSD as there is no benefit to it, except paying a LOT more. Disty from advance auto parts solved mine. Hope you get yours straightened out. Good luck, have any questions just ask.
