i just got my gt40 cast iron heads back from the shop and they are all cleaned up and ready to go, i got them off a low mile explorer around 40,000 miles on them, only thing i had the machine shop do was clean them up and check them to see if they were ok.

i was going to go with a e cam when i put the heads on and crane pedestal 1.7's.

right now my current set up is, cobra intake, pulleys, 76 mm c&l, 1 5/8" shorties, msd ignition, 1" spacer, 65mm tbody, h pipes, flowmasters, 355 gear, aode to 5 speed conversion, (best move i ever made!)

my last trip to the track was a 14.1 at 99 mph, how much more should i pick up with the cam, heads, and rockers?

is there anything i should know of before puting on the gt40 cast iron heads, i like to do things right the first time.

I would have someone do some port work to them before you waste your time and throw them on now.

The only downfall is port work on cast iron is EXPENSIVE.

If you have not purchased the E cam yet, I would do a crane 2031 cam. The crane 2031 cam was designed around the 93-95 Cobra (which came with the GT40's)

I have the 2031 still.. I love it.

I don't know what your funds are so if all you can do is install as is...You'll gain a good solid 20 RWHP with the addition of the heads and cam, might even be more.

If you have the opportunity, I would NOT worry about any intake work. I would do some exhaust work and blend the bowls on the heads.

Either way, your going to like the gain.

about the only thing i was going to do is get the heads gasket matched and install new valve springs and seals, i have not got the cam yet, how does that cam work with the 94 95 computers? the best part about it is i only paid 150.00 for the heads!! money is not a problem, i am just buying one thing at a time, im not going to put them on until april or may.

I was also considering the gt40s seeing as you can probably get them from an explorer in a junkyard for el cheapo. If you have any info, please spread the wealth.
