I finally caved in and bough a mach 1 style chin spoiler. Now the big debate, painted or not? At first I was going to paint it body color but spending the $$ and time to make it laser red would really upset me if it just got chipped off. Plus I found this pic of a painted one which in my opinion looks pretty bad.

Now I am thinking of just painting it gloss black so it's easy to refinish if needed

Also, do most people remove the OEM rough black under spoiler when installing the chin or just leave it there?

i like both. leaving it black, i think, gives it a more "finished" look, whereas painting it makes it look like a 16 year old's project car...

Only cars I have seen with them painted and still looked good were the 99-04's. On the 94-98's I think black looks the best probably because the fit is not as perfect on our body.
