Hey, I've got a '95 Gt 5-speed. On decerlation or even when cruising and just slightly letting off the throttle, I get a constant "chirping" noise from I think the rear of the car.

I'm stumped on this noise!!!

Happens only when car is driven for a while(till warmed up), then all of a sudden release the throttle and "Chirp!, Chirp! Chirp!, Chirp!!..etc"..just touch the throttle and noise goes away..so to me noise is related to load. Touching the brakes, reving engine in neutral or even shutting the engine "Off" and coasting in neutral changes nothing to the noise.

I've greased the universals, there fairly new, I installed a new aluminum DS, noise was there prior to installing a aluminum DS last year, I've checked gear oil, full(I have 4.10 FRPP gears with royal purple lube, noise as there prior to gear install). I've jacked up vehicle on left side to extreme then right side to try and soak the axle bearings...no change in noise!!

I've been fighting this noise now for 2 years now and can't relate it to anything, My next step would be to install chassis ears and go driving..

..anyone else have a similar fault???

5 speed or auto? If 5 speed. Does it go away when you push the clutch in? Otherwise, sounds like it might be a warped rotor or axle flange. Ever ditched it or curb slapped it hard? Get it up in the air on the back end, start it, put it in gear and let the idle speed rotate the rear tires. Get out and look at them from behind and look for a tire "wobble."

It's a 5-speed, no change when I push or release the clutch(release bearing was replaced last summer)..never hit a curb or took the ditch. I have some hard winters here so it doesn't even see 8 months of the year, stays stored away in my garage during the winter months..I never raced, never got it in the air nor stood it on the back end.

I've lifted and ran the car on a 4-post lift, Force variation is with in limits and no wobble can be visually seen...

Ok so, I had some time after work..road tested my car with the chassis ears, noise is 100% from the dif pinion flange area. Again only when warmed up and on deceleration..gonna have to open it up and check further when I have a chance.

Sounds more towards the flange though, thinking it's the seal some how make this noise or the bearing on the pinion nearest to the flange?? Anyone else have this??
