I re-read your previous thread below. Did you clean the connector contacts just outside the MAF? Have any friends with a 5.0 that you could maybe borrow their MAF for a quick test? Seems like it would throw a code......

i have been driving it with it unplugged and its pretty good @WOT.. but everything else is horrible.. with it plugged in... uh... i dont really remember... i will update tomorrow.. but it is sucking down gas like crazy right now!!! i filled it up yesterday afternoon and its already at a half a tank.. thats just to and from work.. usually i can make it at the very LEAST a full week with out filling up.. im not expecting good gas milage at all... but this is crazy.. i did a lot of research a while back cause i was thinking about going with a tweecer to tune it( before i got married and had more money to play with) i remember something about open loop and closed loop... the difference being. open loop is used for start up and @WOT and closed loop kicked in all other times.. i might be way off.. or might have it backwards.. i bought new o2 sensors about a year ago.. that wouldnt be the problem would it?

Check for corrosion in the 2 large connectors on the firewall, directly above the engine. One is black & the other is white. Kinda look like salt & pepper shakers. Carefuuly pop them open, clean them up inside and take a sharp nail or other object and spread the tips of the male connector tips apart slightly to insure a good connection. Re-connect. These connections are well known to cause idle surging (or rolling) in the 5.0l cars.

the ACT and ECT sensors are notorous for causing detonation as well. When I got my 95 it was terrible. The car was bone stock down to the air silencer and even with 93 it still pinged like crazy. I replaced the two sensors and it was better then I cleaned the maf and no issues ever since.

Fuel filter been changed? That's what mine did when I bought it and I had to put a new mass air in the car.
