Hey everyone I made an account here looking for some help. I’ve posted in other forums and haven’t got any answers even though everyone’s tried to help. Hope you guys can help me out.
I had a mostly stock 1995 gt and had a fox edelbrock manifold laying around so decided to install it. Put a bigger fuel pump and 24 lb injectors. Fairly simple stuff.
Spliced the tps wires correctly by color and set it to .98 drilled a hole in the new cold air intake for the air temp. And new fox throttle cable. It turns on and the idle will surge a little Im thinking maybe a vacuum leak somewhere but it’ll start running funny then die and won’t turn on after it warms up. Timing is set to 12 degrees. It gives me a few codes
Koeo
117
512 (not sure if I get this because I keep the battery disconnected)

Koer
998
117

I think 998 is the problem. It says it’s operating in failure mode. I have no idea how to fix it or where to start. Thanks in advance.

998 means the ecu is faulty. It could be bad caps like the fox ecu’s get. It’s worth a shot pulling it out and taking a look inside for swollen capacitors and residue from leaking components.

Ok thank you I will pull the computer today. Another forum was saying that the computer detects a problem with a sensor. Is there any truth to this?
Regardless I’ll check the computer and see if there’s anything wrong with it.

It’s possible it’s related to the 117. When you did your koer test was the car at operating temp?

That’s just grease and shouldn’t cause an issue. Take the covers off and look for leaking components on the circuit board.

The insides looked good to me. Do you see anything possibly wrong

I took it for a spin to the gas station and ran good. Just high and hanging idle sometimes. Didn’t turn it off at the gas station, the idle was good there. Drove it home with no problems.
Temperature sensor not reading for some reason. I did get a new one and installed it.
Ran codes again and had a hard time turning it on after I went to the gas station. Feathered the gas peddle and pushed gas pedal to the floor until I got it to turn on. Then seemed to run fine.

Codes I got right now are

Koeo
117
212
10

Koer
998
117

I have no idea what to check next.

Got it solved. No check engine code on. My coolant temperature sensor wires were all bare and touching. Replaced it with a new one from lmr and runs perfect. DDB76E13-2D2F-47D1-B5BF-CF6280ED1DF7.jpeg
