coil overs for drag racing: what the guys above me said.

if you want coilovers for autocross use, take a look at these guys:
http://www.kw-suspension.com/en/

their stuff is expensive, but ive seen these being used by quite a bit of the pros, figured id look into them as well. seems like they might be track-only tho.

I use mine for the street, there fine IMO i noticed a big diffrence. I would of gone for KW but I couldnt afford their stuff at the time and I think it would of been a bit excessive.

yeah, i figures the KW's would be too much, but what kind of coilovers do you have?

I have MM front and back.
Call them up, they'll help determine the spring rate you want...

Is KW joking with those prices? I have race-valved, double adjustable Konis on my racecar with Griggs coil-overs and they cost less than that. Looks like a bunch of hype to me.

Get MM.

the kw coil overs are real coil overs, not the sleave over type that everyone else uses, including MM. both ive heard are good, but the true coilovers seem to be better. only what ive heard tho

All a "real" coil-over has is a threaded body - so what? You can buy AFCO shocks/struts with threaded bodies from stockcarproducts.com for a fraction of what those crackheads want for their stuff.

Further, I can't see a downside to a properly machined sleeve (e.g. MM) compared to a threaded body.

I call BS on those working any better than normal race shocks/coilovers that cost a fraction of the price. Maybe the ricers like them because they're shiny and come in pretty colors.

depends on which ones you buy. if you buy the "true coilovers" then yes, they replace them. if you buy the "sleeve over" ones, and you have some good shocks/struts you want to use (dont think they work with the stock ones), then they only replace the spring. if you still have the stock struts/shocks, you are going to have to replace them with a strut/shock that accepts the sleeve over coilovers.

i want the true coil overs ...im trying to downsize my huge weight numbers of this pig....im starting their.... it will work nice at the track and allow me to adjust my ride height ..im keeping full interior because it will still be a semi street car but when my 408 is ready this car will also be getting a tubular k member to help shed some weight...

yeah, not real sure who else makes the true coilovers for the mustang other than kw, but i dont think there is much of a weight difference between the true coilovers and the complete sleeve over setups

A Kenny Brown SLA set-up would be great.

ooo that would be a nice setup. griggs has one too, dont they? and this setup is more for roadracing than drag racing
