coilovers?

okay, i've been looking more into getting coilovers lately but i have some questions

i wanted the MM front coilover kit and new shocks and struts but my questions is should I get it with springs? and if so what spring rate should I get? would i be alright to just use the stock springs or would they not work with the coilover set up?

and to the people that have them. are they worth it?

oh and should i use foxbody spec shocks and struts or sn95?

Stock springs are different diameter, and would not work on the coilover setup. MM uses HyperCo 2.5inch diameter springs for their front coilover kits, and those springs carry a lot less spring rate, because they are located in a more efficient location, so you don't need as much spring rate as you would in stock location. As far as the spring rates go, you need to contact MM directly, because front and rear spring rates need to be ballanced, otherwise you will end up with a car with odd handling characteristics.

Yep, they will recommend the rates depending on how you want it to feel, and what parts you've got on there.

Because coilover kits are race parts. Some people who build race cars already have 2.5inch springs they are going to use, so they don't need another set.

alright thanks but still have a question about the shocks and struts. I've heard the foxbody spec shocks and struts (87-93) are better for a lowered sn95 and in some cases will actually lower the car a 1/2 in more. Should I use the foxbody shocks and struts instead of the sn95 because of the lowered stance or what?

I'd use stock shocks and struts. I really hate mixing and matching the parts. You don't really want to drop mustang further than 1.5 inches anyway. It hurts handling.

you mean the bilsteins meant for sn95's? or like STOCK shocks and struts like the ones I have on my car right now?

cause the coilover kit says that it can only be used with bilstein, tokico or koni depending on which one u buy

I meant car specific parts, I should have been more clear about it. I've got Koni shocks and struts and front coilovers on those from MM

The fox specs will ride better if you are an inch or lower due to the inch less of stroke then a SN95 strut. Changing to a fox strut will not lower the car anymore. Just give a better ride if lowered since the strut isn't bottoming out. I had the MM Bilstein coilovers all round on mine at one time. Rode pretty nice and the adjustability was great.
