That’s pretty cool. So you guys drove away from your wedding in your same car you have now? I love the sentiment, because I have the same memory of my wife and I driving away in my mustang. That was only 2012 though.
Yeah, some people’s cars practically become family members, so you can never get rid of them. Got the car when I was 16, in 1998. It was in our homecoming parade 99/00 school year. Dated my husband in it. He had a 97 Thunderbird back then, so it was the same v6 back then. It not only took us home for the first time as a married couple, but our honeymoon in FL as well (from Texas). It drove to my parents house the day before and day of my fathers death. (The day before was the day I told my father I would never sell it, after he talked about all the cool cars he previously owned, and sold) The car would take me to the hospital, where there were free classes given to expecting mothers. And it would become the fun car that got to pick up my daughter from school before COVID happened.
Lots and lots and lots of shared memories together. I remember wanting to take a good pic of the car fully decked out in its “just married” gear, but by the time I got home from my honeymoon, I had to go back to work, and my husband thought it was inappropriate for the car to be dressed in that manner after a week or two of being married. The reception had a black and white one use camera at every table for guests to take pics of random candid moments. That apparently was one. It’s the only pic of the car I have from that moment in time. There was one professional colored picture, but it’s just a closeup of us together, so you really only see a bit of red which may or may not be the car.
